So, what makes Peerel any better than other driving school?
Dear Parents of students, and driver wanna-be's…
How can you know that the driving school you have chosen for your driving education will not be just a waste of time? Time and money, in fact!
Ok, let's hear your take on it then!..
The way I see it, a new driver is much like a newborn. When a child is born, he or she is completely “clean” as per character, personality, or conscience. Its character will develop within the first 3 years of life. After that, it is just building process based on those first three years.
How does that relate to the personality of a driver?
A new driver is also a clean slate. Unfortunately, it is much easier to develop bad driving habits, than it is to correct them later on. And unlike the personality of a child, it doesn't take 3 years to develop these habits; sometimes it is a matter of weeks. It all starts with your personal approach to driving, and your attitude. A big role is played here by the person who introduces you to driving.
If you don't have good role model to take an example from, how can you know what a good driver looks like?
Can you give me any examples?
Have you ever noticed cars driving behind you, or approaching from the oncoming direction, with their high beams on? Better yet - high beams and halogen fog lights together? Or, even worse, have you been stuck behind a slow driver blocking the left-hand lane, slowing down everyone around them? It's irritating isn't it? Especially when you're hurrying to be on time for school or work! These kinds of people with their bad habits or lack of proper training make driving frustrating for everyone on the road.
So what can I do about it?
Here at Peerel, we believe the Good driver are Made, not born. We make it our goal to make each of our students a good driver, and a responsible road user. Situations like the above could happen to anyone, but it is the reaction to the situation that separates the good drivers from the not so good. The best thing a driver can do is think clearly, and not succumb to road rage tendencies.
Ok, sounds like you know what you're talking about... what else ya got?
A large amount of time spent providing driver training, along with extensive experience navigating the road of greater Vancouver have led us here at Peerel to the conclusion that our home city is a Jungle! There are so many different driving styles in our city that is almost impossible to have a universal driving fashion.
If only all drivers applied a few simple rules, this mess would be almost completely cleaned up! The basics that so many drivers lack are really not complicated at all:
Slower traffic keeps right!
Check your blind spot before you decide to change lanes!
Don't drive in the city with your high beams on! Or, always remember to switch them off when you see oncoming traffic – even when they are still far away.
Remember that speed limits are set with safety in mind. But to blindly stick to them even though the entire traffic jungle wants to move about 5 km/h faster, can cause unpleasant situations on the road. Keep with the traffic flow (not faster) to reduce driver conflict.
Use turn signals, and put them on early enough for those around you to notice. Last minute signals are like not using signals at all! Half a block before the turn is a good distance.
These are just some of the simple things that contribute to safety on our streets.
With this in mind, Peerel Driving School produces drivers that are realistic and road-savvy.
Some highlights of Peerel Driver Training includes:
 |
Overall training of daily car maintenance, including filling up the gas tank, pumping tires, checking and refilling oil, emergency tire changing, etc. |
 |
Practical training in a controlled environment, until you feel comfortable heading out onto the road. |
 |
Developing proper observation and decision making skills, both on the road and during parking training. |
 |
Learning how to drive in various weather conditions, at night, on freeways and highways, as well as one of the most
difficult roads for new drivers; the "Sea to Sky Hwy." |
 |
Final road test preparation, so you will know what to expect during the actual test. |
Some people will tell you that the attitude is the most
important part of safe driving. Well, the approach to
driving is very crucial, but will not do you much help
if you cannot properly analyze situation in front of you
(and behind you at the same time), with a decision making
time of sometimes less then 2 seconds.
